St. Nicholas Cathedral every year contributes to Fall activities in Washington DC and invites residents and visitors of the US Capital to the annual Russian Fall Bazaar.
In 2016, it will take place on October 15. and 16.
The mission of this Bazaar to introduce people to Russian America and show the diversity of Russian speakers in Washington DC. Its community includes Russian, Ukrainian, Belorussian, Georgian, Korean, Serbian, Bulgarian, Kazakh, Uzbek, Kyrgyz, Syrian Americans as well as American Americans of Greater Washington.
Experience with us multinational and homemade cuisine, songs and dances, diversity of cultures united by Russian Orthodox Christianity. Russian Orthodox Church came to American continent under Peter the Great in the beginning of 18th century with first settlers from Russian Empire on the West coast from Alaska to Hawaii. St. Nicholas Cathedral in DC is the main sit of Russian American Church for northern America. Cathedral itself was built on donation of escaped Nobility from October Revolution 1917, grandsons of famous writer Lev Tolstoy are very active members of St. Nicholas and always present during the Bazaars. Relatives of Romanov dynasty, princes, dukes and duchess participate in this cultural event. American and Russian writers, professors, doctors read book for visiting children in English and Russian. This year a famous Soprano Victoria Suchareva will sing for the guests of the Bazaar. With other words, if you wish to meet different generations of Russians in America, come to the Bazaar and find out who are who.
